Group Lessons
If you are social, you are open to meeting new people, you are excited to work in a collaborative atmosphere, you like to build friendship, and find private lessons beyond your affordability, our group lessons are ideal for you.
Alberta School of Indian Music and Performing Arts provides group lessons on Indian Voice (Hindustani classical, Bollywood, Ghazal, Bhajan, Kirtans, Chant, Sufi, Ginan), Harmonium, Tabla, Keyboard (Indian style), Guitar (Indian style), Sitar, Dholak, and Dance (Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Bollywood). These lessons are for all ages––children (from 4 years), youth, adults, and seniors, and skill levels––beginner, intermediate, and advance. We pair you with a similar age range and skill level group. These lessons are taught in a smaller group of 4 to 6 students.

There might not be personalized one-on-one attention but there are other benefits of having group lessons. Through group lessons students can foster social skills, develop sense of community, learn from peers, reduce performance anxiety, and receive well-rounded experience.

Bollywood Choir
Ages 6 to Seniors
Bollywood Choir is one of our exciting programs. We run this program twice in a month––every second and last Saturdays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. When there are five weeks in a month, we use second and fourth Saturdays. The choir works on a wide range and style of Bollywood or Hindi film songs from the 1950s/60s to the present time. We also provide knowledge of core Indian music concepts, including sur and taal to students in conjunction with the choir singing.
If you love Bollywood music and want to take a formal lesson but cannot commit time every week, this choir will be best choice for you. We organize one or two big show(s) in a year to showcase students’ talent and provide them stage experience. Students also get multiple opportunities to perform in various other performances in a community setting.
Class Day: Saturday (2nd and last Saturday of a month. When there are five Saturdays, we use 2nd and 4th Saturdays)
Class Duration: 2 hrs
Class Timing: 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm

Bhajan Club
Ages 6 to Seniors
Bhajan Club is another of our school’s exciting programs. We run this program twice in a month––every first and third Saturdays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The club works on a wide range of devotional songs (bhajans, kirtans, and Chants). We also provide knowledge of core Indian music concepts, including sur and taal to students in conjunction with the singing.
If you are devout and want to connect to your faith/divinity through music and sound, this program is best for you. Our Bhajan Club promotes inner peace and emotional well-being. We organize one or two big show(s) in a year to showcase students’ talent and provide them with stage experience. Students also get multiple opportunities to perform in various other performances in temples and community settings.

Children's Choir
Ages 6 to 14
Children’s Choir is an engaging program for children. We run this program twice in a month––every second and last Sundays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. When there are five weeks in a month, we use the second and fourth Sundays. The choir works on a wide range and style of songs, from Bollywood or Hindi film songs to devotional, folk, and regional songs from the Indian subcontinent. We also provide knowledge of core Indian music concepts, including sur and taal to students in conjunction with the choir singing.
If your child loves singing and doesn’t have time to commit to regular lessons due to other activities, this choir will be the best choice for you. This choir is also the best option for those parents who are unsure and want to explore their child’s interest in music. We organize one or two big show(s) in a year to showcase students’ talent and provide them with stage experience. Students also get multiple opportunities to perform in various other performances in community settings.

The ensemble students mainly play harmonium, keyboard, and guitar, and work on a wide range and style of songs from Bollywood or Hindi film songs to devotional, folk, and regional songs from the Indian subcontinent. Family Music Lessons
Ages 6 to Seniors
Family Music Lessons is a family-centered program where parents participate with children to explore music of their roots, connect to their culture, strengthen their family bonds, and develop lifelong appreciation for music. Families can choose any musical instruments or voice or combinations that are offered by our school. They can also choose between systematic or general music training. We tailor lesson plans according to your current level, skill, and interest and that fits your family learning goals.
Class Options: Family with 2 & 3 members – 1 hour, Family with 3 & 4 members – 1.5 hours
Registration Fee: $35 + GST (each member)
Monthly Fee: 2 members – $350 + GST, 3 members – $500 + GST, 4 members – $650 + GST, 5 members – $825 + GST
